This week the theme of SLS is to find a song that’s listed in the National Recording Registry, in America. Remain in Light is the fourth studio album by the American rock band Talking Heads, released on October 8, 1980, by Sire Records. Produced by Brian Eno, his third album with the band, the album was recorded at Compass Point Studios in the Bahamas and Sigma Sound Studios in New York during July and August 1980. In 2017, the Library of Congress deemed the album “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant”, and selected it for preservation in the National Recording Registry. It is, by far, my favourite Talking Heads album.
I got sort of burned out on the Talking Heads after college listening to Sand in the Vaseline one too many times. I just picked up A24’s revamp of Stop Making Sense on bluray and I’m remembering how great this band really is. Plus, a lot of the songs I didn’t like then I like now, especially in their concert versions, and there’s some new ones on there that I’ve never heard before. Great concert movie! I like this song (Houses in Motion) too, though I don’t think I’m familiar with it either!
a great choice Glyn 💜

One of a series of great albums. My favourite was always True Stories, though: City Of Dreams is a masterpiece.

Yes, the concert movie is a great companion to go with the vinyl/cd. I’ve got both originals
